One of my favourite aspects of living in Australia is the endless supply of beautiful, pristine beaches and the glorious weather in which we can enjoy them. Despite the fact that it’s now autumn here in Australia, I am actually heading to the beach today, as we are luckily still having some lovely, sunny days. Growing up on the coast, I’ve always had a particular affinity to the water, as much of my childhood was spent at the beach.
As summer comes around each year and I prepare to spend two weeks back at my family home on the coast in Port Fairy, I love to pick out a couple of pieces here and there that will see me through those gorgeous, endless days at the beach. A dress that can be worn over bathers, sunglasses to shield your eyes from those harmful rays, and a sturdy bag that will hold all the essentials like sunscreen, a towel, and a good book.
I always tend to gravitate towards these nautical-themed pieces when selecting my summer wardrobe: whites, blues, and tans. I can’t avoid it; they’re the colours that remind me of the beach and inspire me to spend more time in the sun. I absolutely adore this striped dress from Esprit; it embodies the exact qualities I look for in a summer dress and is perfect for those lazy days in a coastal town.
Every summer I always face the same dilemma when choosing bathers: one piece or two? I’ve found lately that I’m favouring the one-piece, as I find it more wearable when I’m spending a whole day at the beach.
I’m off to the beach now, but I hope I have inspired you to start planning your own summer beach experience! Let me know what your beachwear essentials are in the comments!
