March was allllllll about books. I tend to go through book buying binges every couple of months, and it seems as though I was picking up a new book all throughout March! Some of them were more practical than others - The Portuguese phrasebook, for example, was purchased specifically to get me through a holiday in Portugal in June. I have no knowledge of the Portuguese language (other than a few choice phrases picked up from watching Love, Actually) so I'm hoping to have a decent grasp of a few key phrases before I arrive.
New York Cult Recipes was a spontaneous purchase after flicking through it in a book shop. It's an incredibly beautiful cookbook, and the photography seems designed solely to inspire hunger - I don't think I've ever felt so ravenous after looking through a cookbook! The recipes are all "traditional" New York food, and I've already made the Sloppy Joe's to great success. I'm hoping to make their cherry pie this coming weekend as a nod to David Lynch departing the Twin Peaks reboot. It just won't be the same without you, David!
A couple of weeks ago I picked up a small bottle of Bio-Oil with the world's most stubborn security sticker over the lid (thanks Priceline!). I've heard it's somewhat good at reducing redness in scars, so I thought I'd give it a try to use on a couple of scars on my back. I haven't had much luck in the past reducing redness, so hopefully Bio-Oil has a bit more success.
Finally, I picked up a pink clip-on bow from Topshop to give a bit more life to an otherwise boring ponytail. I don't think you can ever be too old for a bow in your hair, right?
I hope you all had a great March and a wonderful Easter weekend! I'm sitting here at my desk eating Cadbury Caramello eggs and feel like I may pass out from the sugar intake.
